Here it is as requested: From the Fall 2009 edition of D23 magazine. Are your eyes deceiving you? Not at all! That really is an Imagineering concept for a 3D version of the Haunted Mansion you are seeing. (And the rest of the issue is worth the price!)
Long before Phantom Manor made its western ghoulish appearance in Europe's Disneyland Paris, the Disney Imagineers created this long abandoned new twist on an old favorite as an idea for Tokyo. Thankfully, smarter heads prevailed until a fresh concept came about for the French park years later.
Could Hong Kong Disneyland's Mystic Manor go 3D? Probably not- it is not in the renderings we've seen- but my bet is it has a strong element or two from Tokyo DisneySea's Tower of Terror as well as the perfectly created match of a trackless freeroaming system from Pooh's Hunny Hunt. My guess is Mystic Manor will be the attraction that finally places the poor little Chinese park on the map!
